One of our favorite vendors will be joining us for HMC4! Seeded Earth out of Muscatine, Iowa will be selling beautiful bouquets, fresh cut flowers and terrariums! Some of you may remember Sarah (Seeded Earth Owner) from the last Handmade City Spring event. Her colorful booth was busy as people lined up to snatch their favorite flowers. We loved having her at the event, she is as sweet as her flowers! Please visit Sarah’s website to learn more about her and her business. You can also find Seeded Earth on Facebook.
Happy Monday Friends! We have a great vendor spotlight for you today. Susan Czechowski creates fun silkscreened paper items, baby goods and tea towels. She is also a trained metal smith and will be selling the cool monkey key rings you see pictured above. We are happy to have Suasn’s shop sueCdesigns as one of our Spring ’12 Handmade City vendors. She will be driving up from Macomb, Illinois to join us for our April 28 event so let’s make her trip more than worth it. Stop by her HMC4 booth and introduce yourself while picking up a few of her handmade gifts! (Isn’t that camera onesie just the coolest?!)
Oooo eeeee, we love this next spotlight – Sweet William Handmade out of Des Moines Iowa! Kari Stecher is the designer behind this lovely shop and she sure knows how to make some sweet hand-crocheted jewelry & accessories. We love her use of color and the photography of her pieces is impressive too. Sweet William Handmade items are all hand-crocheted with care using a wide variety of yarn and thread. Custom colors and sizes are available as well. Swing by Kari’s Etsy shop to see more designs and make sure you “like” her Facebook page too.
We are happy to feature this new Handmade City vendor. Stephanie Soebbing is the owner and designer for Teeny Footprint. Her eco-friendly baby gear is colorful and functional. You can expect to shop dyed and appliqued onesies, burp cloths, all-in-one cloth diapers and baby quilts made from 100 % cotton fabric, thread and batting! Stephanie takes custom quilt orders too, so mamas can have a unique quilt that matches their nursery or happens to be their child’s favorite colors. Visit the Teeny Footprint Etsy shop and Facebook Page to see more eco-friendly items.
Purrvana, Hiss, Spayer and Alice Scooper! If those names don’t crack you up then you may not be as into cat/rock puns as we are! Iowa City cat lover Too Bad Mice will be joining us for HMC4, selling catnip toys and screen-printed stuffed animals. Check out the Too Bad Mice Etsy shop and Facebook page to see pictures of their catnip toys in action with some pretty lovable kitties. April 28th will be here soon and we can’t wait to pick some fun toys for our little HMC puss!
Handmade City virgin Totes & Toggles is today’s featured vendor. We love theses colorful bags by Davenport designer Maggie Gripp! Nothing but cute fabric and high quality designs – all handmade of course! Maggie makes more than purses though. You will find checkbook covers, mini wristlets, crayon totes, messenger bags and mini clutches (an adorable mini version of her full size clutches) over on the Totes and Toggles facebook page. Stop by her page to see more pretty designs. Totes & Toggles does custom orders and has many fabric options to chose from so you can mix and match your favorite swatches. We are excited to have Maggie as a part of our handmade community!
This next vendor spotlight mixes a little handmade love with a lot of attitude. Unforgiven Vintage strives to provide the best and most unique collection of items that fit looks ranging from punk, boho, retro, rockabilly, classy, and alternative. This next featured vendor is from the cute little historic town of Bishop Hill, IL. Artist Carlee Hawkins creates exactly what you may think coming from a town like Bishop Hill and with a shop name like Vintage Chic Crochet – chic crochet items with a vintage vibe! Including hats, bags, hair accessories, cowls, fingerless gloves, flower pins and baby items too! We are looking forward to having Carlee at our HMC4 event as this will be her first Handmade City show. Please help us welcome her into our crafty community and leave a friendly “hello” over on the Vintage Chic Crochet facebook page. Take a look at her creations above and definitely be sure to visit her HMC4 booth to get your hands on them come April 28.
It’s that time again, vendor spotlights! We will be posting a new spotlight every weekday until our event. To kick things off we thought we would start with our pals over at Rozz-Tox, after that we will be posting vendors from Z to A!
For those of you who have never been to Rozz-Tox, you are truly missing out. Tucked away on the edge of the District of Rock Island, just far enough away from the routine stops but close enough to action and definitely considered one of the District’s front runners for remarkable music, art and performance. In addition to all the pros they have going for them (amazing restored building, fabulous coffees and teas, unique art, poetry night, good beer, great music, gourmet cupcakes…) they happen to be some of the nicest people we have met! Taken straight from their website, this statement describes the venue best:
“We opened Rozz-Tox on April Fool’s Day 2011 with the intention of creating a cultural space by blending aspects of a café, music venue, gallery and bookshop into one all ages venue. We are open to all genres of music and art with the only requirement being that it is original. We are promoting creativity, not replication or mindless entertainment. We like to refer to this venue as a canvas – an evolving work that’s never finished. We welcome artists of all artistic disciplines to be a part of this.”
Handmade City held our Spring 2011 & Holiday 2011 events at Rozz-Tox last year. We are excited to have them be a part of HMC4. They will be selling coffee and cupcakes at the event – you must stop and say hello! Visit them before our event at: 2108 3rd Ave Rock Island, IL 61201 or check ’em out online at rozztox.com and their facebook page!
Check out this great artist that will be selling at Handmade City Holiday (just 2 days away!) Malina Lee has shown art at Bucktown in Davenport and the ARTery in Rock Island and we are happy to have her as a part of our community! Her colorful paintings and prints will fit right in with the other 22 vendors and we are looking forward to seeing her booth in person!
