First up in our HMC8 spotlight series is our awesome venue and it’s current residents the Quad Cities Food Hub & The Front Street Brewery. What makes our upcoming holiday event one of the best shows we’ve held is the fact that we get to share a space with these two Quad City establishments.
In short our friends at the Food Hub bi-state are an initiative working to strengthen the connection between locally grown food, the farmers who raise it, and the consumers who eat it. Their local market store is located inside the Davenport Freight House and carries regional items you can’t find anywhere else in the Quad Cities. Inventory grows weekly and during Handmade City sow hours you will be able to shop the Food Hub’s local and regional natural health foods, along with unique specialty items! To learn more about the QC Food Hub visit their website: www.qcfoodhub.com and check out their Facebook Page.
Front Street Brewery has served the fine community of Davenport, Iowa for over 18 years and is the oldest brew pub in the state of Iowa. Their Tap Room is located inside the Freight House and will be serving hand-crafted beer through out Handmade City show hours. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for a holiday brew! To learn more about FSB check out their pretty website: frontstreetbrew.com and add their Facebook Page to your list!
Our good friends at Adventure Orange will once again be hanging at Handmade City for tomorrow’s event. In fact it almost wouldn’t be an event if these ladies were there. Cool DIY divas making things like clothing, toys, jewelry… we love it all! If you haven’t already stopped by their bricks & mortar location you must! They are located in the Village of East Davenport at 2218 East 11th street. You can browse the Adventure Orange Facebook page to see pics of their most recent work and learn about the DIY classes they currently offer.
The queen of clever, cute and clean design, Miss Andie Douglas, has launched her new business Andie Paperie. We are looking forward to checking out new designs at her booth tomorrow during Handmade City Spring. Andie will have special gifts perfect for Mother’s Day including lovely cards and paper. make sure to stop by her booth and show some love.
Only three HMC4 spotlights left and they are all so good! Today’s treasure is Decadence – Recycled. Restyled. Leather jewelry and accessories. We had a chance to see Decadence at WALOC 8 last December and their accessories are just as high quality & gorgeous in person as they look in the photos above. We are super excited to have Andrew Kingsbury, owner/designer of Decadence, and his lovely collection of repurposed jewelry at Handmade City Spring 2012. Just another great reason why you should visit us this Saturday… ya hear?!
Visit the Decadence Etsy shop here, and ‘like’ it out on Facebook too!
Cute, colorful accessories for moms, girls & babies! Eden Accessories knows a thing or two about being a Handmade City vendor. Eden Acc. has participated at both HMC2 & HMC3. We are happy to have them back for HMC4! Always a crowd pleaser this little shop offers high quality accessories your little lady will love! Visit Eden Acc. on Facebook today.
Hello gorgeous hand-crafted jewelry! Ann Hartley is a true artisan, her fine silver and gold jewelry is absolutely lovely. Shoppers that came to our Handmade Holiday show last December got a glimpse of what this lady can create with a jewelry hammer. We definitely saw some lucky ladies going home with Hartley Studio goodies and a few no-so-lucky ladies looking mighty jealous. Stop by Ann’s booth next Saturday and at the very least try on one of her stunning necklaces! (here is the Hartley Studio Facebook page)
If you thought the awesomeness of our vendor spotlight HMC4 series would soon fade – you were wrong. With only 10 more days until Handmade City 4 we are still posting amazing designers like today’s feature *innad*! Just look at the small selection above, super cool wallets and accessories made in Wisconsin! Trust us, we have seen these in person and they are just as rad as they look in those thumbnails. Definitely swing by the *innad* booth and grab some goodies for yourself and your pals. Any pattern/fabric can be made into bi-fold, checkbook, or passport sizes so if you’d like something in a different style, let Danni know!
Today’s spotlight comes from Des Moines, Iowa. Kim Hutchison, owner and designer of Jbirdstitch, will be making the drive to Davenport to join our vendor crew at HMC4! The Jbirdstitch booth will offer handmade oven mitts, market bags, personal and home accessories, made from resourced and vintage fabrics. Jbirdstitch designs are one of a kind items from repurposed materials! We love the adorable oven mitts and vintage felted shoulder bags. Visit the Jbirdstitch Etsy shop and leave Kim a comment on the Jbirdstitch Facebook page telling her which items you love!
