Tell us a little about yourself. :)

I have always had a love of making things. I enjoy the process of crafting even more than the finished project sometimes. Perhaps that’s why my day job is in the remodeling/construction industry. I am married to my best friend Andy. We have a dachshund named Desmond and now a brand new shiny baby boy named Cormac.

Apart from being creative, what do you do?
I design/layout kitchens and bathrooms. As mentioned before, I love the design process and have been given the gift of being able to envision the final product. Thankfully the good Lord has also empowered me to help translate that vision into something a customer can understand as well. When I am not with my family or at work you can almost always find me thrift shopping. I have a problem.

Could you tell us about some of your work & your creative process?
What I am “into” changes as often as the seasons. I am recently getting into home furnishings (pillows, window treatments, bizzare knick-knacky items, etc). My process for crafting usually involves sketching and in some cases making templates/patterns. I love it when people contact me to work on something custom. I love taking an old item and giving it another chance by updating it in some way. Yesterday I knit a hat and used the buttons from my grandfather’s fireman’s uniform.

Where do you find inspiration?
Everywhere. You can take any item and it’s concept can be applied to any other thing. I truly believe this. My wedding was inspired by a bowl. If you have an item or an image or even a piece of music I can help it evolve into a room design or even a necklace. Better yet- a necklace you can wear in that room…then a blackhole may form.

What handmade possession do you most cherish?

My son Mac.

In ten years, where would you like to be?
Hopefully in our second home because I am running out of space in our current one that I haven’t changed. I am a woman who needs to be surrounded by projects to breathe. I would love to be able to teach Interior Design, perhaps at a highschool.
